DESIGN MOTIVATION
Through developing and innovating ideas, it is only natural to be inspired by different media. Upon observation below I have listed several literature, articles, and experiences that have inspired me to think more creatively, while applying it to the senior design project or everyday problem solving.

Star Wars: Trident Class Assault Ship
Reminiscing to a childhood T.V. show I used to watch was Star Wars: The Clone Wars, I was always fascinated by the magnificent ships the characters would fly in, and even still today I am still just as passionate about it as when I was a kid. One of my favorite episodes involved the ship shown in the picture. When thinking about what sort of geometry I would consider for the senior design project, my mind immediately came to this image. My inspiration for one of my designs for this project was heavily based on the geometry of this ship. In the show, this assault ship can be seen travelling through the air and into water, which is exactly the objective for the senior design project. Due to its fluid transition into the water the geometry of the head of the ship in the picture was used for my design, which can be seen below.
ELON MUSK'S BOOK
Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future

As a passionate and motivated professional, I’m constantly striving to improve my techniques, expand my skill set and find new opportunities to grow. Thus, having read Elon Musk’s NY Time bestseller biography, inspired new ways of thinking about the world around. This book can be condensed into three main lessons that Musk preaches, in terms of thinking of new innovative ways to improve the quality of life. One lesson, is to spend more time thinking of the right questions to ask rather than answering them the easy questions. The second lesson is to accomplish your goals with a success-through-determination approach. What this implies is that no matter what you are trying to accomplish, as long as it’s important you stick with it all the way through, while taking a scientist’s approach in how you determine the next step. The third and final lesson, is that by unifying all your work under the one main goal will have a longer lasting impact on the world. This mentality is what further opened my mind and motivates me to design and consider new ways of thinking in my approach to solving engineering problems.e to get in touch with any questions.

REVERSE ENGINEERING LAB
My school offers a variety of resources and opportunities of foster the engineering mind. One of which I utilize the most is the Reverse Engineering Lab in the Design Studio in 416 Bonner Hall. This tinkering lab focuses on reverse engineering products and in addition offers space for breadboard-based Arduino tinkering. The lab attached is the third module in the product teardown series, which involves design a product with user needs in mind. Then, systematically “dissecting” products or components that relate to the product you have designed. Based on this, various ideas and components that initially wouldn’t have been conjured can be applied to the product you designed. This can also be related to Elon Musk’s book. The process of reverse engineering is platform for developing CAD models which is one area I would like to improve on.

WATER ENTRY IMPACTS OF DIVING BIRD
This research paper article was recommended by Dr. Bayandor, as he feels it will help us be better inspired and become more knowledgeable when trying to abstract an idea for how to drone will impact the water when in transition. The main focus of the paper was the design of the front of the drone, by suggesting more bio-inspired drones. It teaches many different concepts such as the angle of attack, and the impact the beak shape has on the control system as it breaks the water. This paper has been very useful in many of the design consideration thus far, as my group members and myself were not aware of the powerful integration that a bird beak could have on the efficiency of the drone. Moreover, many of the old designs had to be revised as a result of this new information.
MOVIE SCENE: "JOBS"
Jonathan Ive
Although this video does not relate to the senior project, it does however, capture the essence of what designing is. In the movie “Jobs”, Steve Jobs confronts Jonathan Ive, the lead designer for his division. Upon confrontation, Jonathan Ive beautifully, captures what designing a product should be in relation to the consumer. He states that a product should be the extension of the user. This to me is personally one of my favorite scenes in the movie because it demonstrates how designers should think.
